A colorful and sweet new business is about to open on the west side of Wichita.

Sugar Llamas is a mini-doughnut business at 841 N. Tyler that also will serve ice cream and a full line of coffee drinks. It’ll also have a drive-through. It’s scheduled to open sometime in July, perhaps as early as July 10, owner Kim Mallon said.

The shop will be Mallon’s first foray into the food business. She also co-owns Elite Properties of Wichita, a property rental business. She said that her son and daughter-in-law, who live in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, took her to a Sugar Llamas store while she was visiting, and she loved the doughnuts — which are sold in packs of six, 12, 25, 36 and 100.

“It was kind of like a ‘wow’ moment, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, these are amazing,’” she said. “When I tried them, immediately I was hooked.”
